Abimbola Oladokun, also known by his professional name Bayanni, is a Nigerian Afropop genre singer and songwriter. He was born on the 25th of June 1997, in Lagos State, Nigeria, where he also hails from.

Bayanni’s Biography

Bayanni’s love for music started at a very tender age. Although his parents were kind of strict with him and his siblings, it never stopped him.

He grew up in a very strong God-fearing Christian home, where reading the bible was the main objective. His parents were always more intuitive about his Christian life and he had to keep his talent hidden.

Later on, he found a way to still be engaged in his musical life by joining the church choir. There, he would always work on his voice and was developing his talent slowly.

He later started doing covers of popular songs he liked to his friend during his free time. Even while he was in secondary school, he would always sing for his friends.

He started attending Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife. He did not allow a new environment to tame his talent, rather, he used it as a tool to develop. Bayanni would always perform covers of songs he wrote during events.

Slowly, he started expanding his fame base, meeting various producers in Ile Ife. He was later persuaded to take to the studio and perform his own songs.

Although it wasn’t easy at first, he still continued, even with the covers of songs. In 2021, some of the covers he made started making waves. Songs like Felony (CKAY), Jowo (Davido), and Peru (Fireboy DML) saw him gain some attention.

During this period, he also released a video on one of the songs he was working on. The song in particular was titled “African Beauty” and many people couldn’t await for its release. Shortly after, he was unveiled as a Mavins by the record label owner Don Jazzy. The rest, I can officially say, is history.
