Who is Saidat Oladunjoye?

Saidat Olayinka Oladunjoye is a Barrister and Federal commissioner of the National Population Commission at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja. She was sworn in recently by President Tinubu and will be representing Lagos State.

She assumed office after the citation was read to the Federal Executive Council members. Mrs. Bimbo Salu-Hundeyin was succeeded by her and now serves as the Secretary to the Lagos State Government. The President nominated her on October 12, 2023, and she took the oath four months later.

Her academic journey continued at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where she achieved a B.A. in History with a second-class upper division (1981). It was followed by an M.A. in History through a dissertation (1982-1986).

Subsequently, she earned an L.L.B. degree with a second-class upper division in 1997. Mrs Oladunjoye later attended the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, and was called to the bar in 1999, concluding her legal education journey.

Mrs. Oladunjoye commenced her professional journey as a Graduate Assistant in 1983 at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in the Department of History. At the same time, she served as a Classroom Teacher at Gbagada Comprehensive High School, Lagos, from 1983 to 1985.

Transitioning to the public sector, she joined the Lagos State Ministry of Youths, Sports, and Social Development as a Sports Officer/Project Officer from 1987 to 1990.

Her career path led her through various ministries, including the Ministry of Finance (1990-1995), where she served as a Research Officer. She also served in the Lagos State Public Works Department as a Senior Administrative Officer in 1995.

Olayinka later ventured into the private sector, eventually reaching the position of CEO/Executive Director at an Insurance firm. Her public service continued as she was appointed the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Lagos State. This was during the second term of Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN’s administration.
