Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara is a politician and former accountant general who serves as the Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria. He originates from Opobo Town in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara popularly known as Sim Fubara was born on January 28, 1975, in Opobo Town in Opobo/Nkoro LGA in Rivers State. The Governor studied Accountancy at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. He went on to get his MBA and MSc from the University of Port Harcourt in 2013 and 2016 respectively.

Sim Fubara’s Career

Sim commenced his professional journey in 2003 by serving as a Principal Accountant at the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board. He progressed in his career, advancing from the role of Director of Finance and Accounts at the State’s government house in 2015.

The current Governor of Rivers State later reached the position of Permanent Secretary in March 2020. On December 23, 2020, He was appointed the Accountant general of Rivers State until May 2022.

He left his role as accountant general after winning the People’s Democratic Party governorship primaries for the 2023 general election. Fubara Is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.
