Major. Gen Christopher Musa’s Biography

Major. General Christopher Gwabin Musa, was born on 25th December 1967, in Sokoto State, Nigeria. Although, he is originally from Zangon Kataf Local Government Area in the Christain South of Kaduna State.

His primary and secondary education were all attended in Sokoto State. Major. Gen C.G Musa attended the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1986, at Kaduna State. During this time, the military was in control of all affairs in Nigeria. He went through intense military training for five years before passing out of the system.

Career

In September 1991, he officially entered the Nigerian Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry Corps, one of the most challenging sections in the army.

He holds an Advanced Diploma in Security Management from the University of Lagos. An Advance Diploma in Defence and Strategic Course from the International College of Defence Studies in China, and other outstanding achievements from reputable institutions both in and outside Nigeria.

Musa was the General Staff Officer 1 Training/Operations at HQ 81 Division, the Commanding Officer of 73 Battalion, and the Assistant Director of Operational Requirements at the Department of Army Policy and Plans. 

Additionally, he was an Infantry Member Training Team at HQ Nigerian Army Amour Corps, the Commander of the Sector 3 Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Tchad Region, and many other numerous positions. In 2021, he was redeployed to be the Commander of Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, where he was until his new appointment as the Chief of Defense Staff.

He was appointed on Monday, 19th June 2023, by President Tinubu. In a release signed by its convener, Bukar Adamu, on Monday, the Advocacy group commended Tinubu for the appointment, saying, “It is an indication of the administration’s willingness to decisively deal with all forms of criminality in the country”.
