Omolade Oyetundun Racheal, known professionally by the stage name Lade. She is a talented Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer. Born in the 1990s, November 16 in Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Lade’s Biography
Lade’s love for music started when she was just six years of age. She was always wanting to show her powerful vocal which many believe sound a lot like that of Teni. Omalade’s sound is like a mesh-up of Afro-pop, highlife, and R&B, which is unique.
She was always doing covers of popular artists she adored, the likes of Khaid, Simi, and Fireboy DML. She attended the University of Ilorin in Kwara State (Unilorin) where she studied Mass Communication.
In 2017, she even won the Unilorin third season Idol competition. However, due to financial issues, she had to drop out of university. This prompted the freestyle video she made that went viral, the “adulthood anthem”.
According to her, she didn’t expect the song to even blow up this much. She said, “I am surprised by the recognition I am receiving for this song but I am also honored”.
When asked the reason behind the song, she had so many things to say about it. She said, “I just want to motivate all the hustlers out there”. “Growing up we were always having the mindset that adulthood was fun, but we weren’t aware it comes with responsibilities”. This was the message she was trying to send to the world, and “I am glad to be honored for it” she said.
